On 15 March at 18.30 there will be a lecture "Art deco Jewellery Art" within the lecture series "Jewellery Encyclopedia"in the Kaliningrad Regional Amber Museum. It will be conducted by the museum's Deputy Director for Research, art expert, candidate of pedagogical sciences Irina Toropova.

Among bright and revolutionary modernism directions in the first half of the 20th century Art Deco is distinguished with the universal esthetic and innovations in constructions and forms of jewellery and decorative and applied art works. It was founded in France, in the 1920s it was rapidly developed in the countries of Europe, North and South Americas. "Modern Jazz", "Luxury Style", "Stars' Style" – all these epithets characterize Art Deco as artistic means of expression the ideas of elitism, splendor and high fashion..

When the Art Deco appeared the range of jewellery production was renewed. Sautoirs, watches, clip brooches, jabot pins, unusually long beads, "brush"brooches, minaudieres became popular. Aigrettes, bandeaus, arm bracelets, big brooches, earrings reaching shoulders entered fashion again.

At the lecture there will be photos of works by jewellery artists from the early 20th century Georges and Jean Fouquet, R.Templier,  G.Sandoz, J.Despres, R.Yard, production of jewellery Houses Cartier, Mauboussin, Boucheron, Chaumet, Van Cleef & Arpels, Bvlgari, Janesich, Tiffany & Co. As well as illustrations of works made by contemporary masters in Art Deco style.
