Amber Forum

Kaliningrad Regional Amber Museum partook in the First Economic Forum of Amber Industry in Russia as partner, exponent, organizer of the themed track "Amber in the Sphere of Culture", member of the business programme. The major event was held in the variety theater "Yantar-Hall" in Svetlogorsk from 6 to 8 October 2016 and became one of the biggest industry-specific discussion platforms.

Director of the Kaliningrad Regional Amber Museum, Honoured Cultural Professional of Russia Tatiana Suvorova was a speaker at the forum, as well as moderator of the cultural and historical track programme "Amber in the Sphere of Culture" (Section "Special events").

Specialists of the Amber Museum also participated in the track. Reports and presentations were made by Chief Research Associate, Dr. Irina Polyakova, head of the Department for Research and Exposition Anna Smirnova, Senior Research Associate, Candidate of historical sciences Leonid Efremov, Research Associate Viktoria Rezchikova, Leading Research Associate, member of the World Amber Council in Gdansk (Poland) Zoya Kostyashova, specialist for expositional and exhibition work Irina Krivonos.

An interesting report about the project of Amber Chambers in the Wrangel Tower was made by Alexander Krylov (Saint Petersburg), Honoured Artist of Russia, amber restoration artist of the highest category. 

At its display stand, Kaliningrad Amber Museum presented unique works made by the amber restoration artist of the highest category Alexander Zhuravlyov (1943–2009) and artists from his creative workshop. Special attention of the Forum's visitors was drawn to the decorative panel "Rus'", which has no analog in the world. Guests of the forum also saw amber portraits of Peter the Great, Alexander II, Alexander Pushkin, Alexander Nevsky.

The museum's mini-exposition of high artistic value was visited by the delegation consisting of Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Northwestern Federal District Vladimir Solovyov, managing director for the organizations of direct control of the State Corporation "Rostec" Vladimir Litvin, interim Chairman of the Government of Kaliningrad oblast Garry Goldman, advisor of the Board Chairman of the JSC "Kaliningrad Amber Combine", Professor, First Class State Counsellor Valeriy Boyko, Director General of the JSC "Kaliningrad Amber Combine" Michail Zatsepin. Vladimir Litvin expressed a high opinion of the unique artworks.

Tatiana Suvorova introduced Evgeniy Tatuzov to the high guests, he is a President of the foundation "Development of Charitable Programs" from Saint Petersburg, thanks to him such wonderful works entered the Kaliningrad Regional Amber Museum's collection. She also told about the demonstrating works and about a new project of Amber Chambers' creation in the Wrangel Tower. Sketches of the Amber Chambers were shown by the project author Alexander Krylov.

There were works of 29 exponents featured at the forum. Over 500 jewellers and entrepreneurs among them. There were famous amber artists Yuriy Velikotskiy, Michail Vorobyov, Lana Egorova (leader of the creative association "Prussian Honey"), Alexander Korolyov, Vyacheslav Mishin and others among Kaliningrad participants.

On the second day of forum, the museum's stand was visited by the acting Governor of Kaliningrad oblast Anton Alikhanov. The museum's director Tatiana Suvorova told about the collection "Amber House" to the leader of the Amber Land and Alexander Krylov presented sketches of the Amber Chambers. Anton Alikhanov became interested in the presentation and told that it may become a unique object.

Awarding with memorable gifts "For the Contribution to the Development of Amber Industry of Russia" was coincided with the forum. There was director of the Amber Museum Tatiana Suvorova among seven Kaliningrad residents, who received this award.
