"Amber Treasure"

Exhibition "Amber Treasure" from the collection of the Kaliningrad Regional Amber Museum works in the A.Ivanov Museum of History and Local Lore in Gusev from 1 to 28 July. The exposition presents works of decorative, applied and jewellery art created by amber masters from Russia and abroad.
These works, that enriched the museum's collection as result of its active project and exhibition activities within the last decade, feature the variety of methods, approaches and traditions in sunstone processing. Decorative and physical properties of amber allow to use it for making artworks in such techniques as carving, polishing, pressing, coloring, composing and Florentine mosaic. Today, as also in ancientry, the Baltic gem is used to produce items of decorative, applied and jewellery art, and nowadays the latest technologies give the possibility to create such works that have no analogs in the history of amber treatment neither in appearance, no in technique of execution.
At the exhibition in Gusev, there are works made both by the authors, who are experienced in working with amber and those, who haven't know about its existence until the recent time. One can say without exaggeration that amber unites people of the whole world – artists, masters, experts and admirers of this fascinating mineral – witness of our planet's history.
