"Amber in the Artistry of Contemporary Artists"

Exhibition "Amber in the Artistry of Contemporary Artists" from the Kaliningrad Regional Amber Museum's collection is opened on 26 February at 17.00 in the Sovetsk Town History Museum. The exposition will present works of jewellery and decorative ad applied arts created by amber masters from Russia and abroad. These are both authors who are experienced in working with the "sunstone", and those who hadn't even known about its existence until recently. The works that enriched the museum's collection as a result of its project and exhibition activity during the last decade will be demonstrated, the works that show the variety of methods, approaches and traditions of amber processing.

Decorative and physical qualities of the unique gem allow to use it for creation of artworks in such techniques as carving, polishing, pressing, coloring, composing and Florentine mosaics. Nowadays, as in the antiquity, the Baltic gem is used for manufacturing the works of jewellery and decorative-applied arts. And advanced technologies enable artists to create such artworks that have no analogs in the history of amber processing either in appearance, or in technique of execution.

The exhibition will work till 24 April.
