Opening of the exhibition "Amber Unites the World" takes place on 19 February at 17.00 in the Kaliningrad Regional Amber Museum, it will present jewellery and decorative-applied artworks from its collection.

At the exposition there will be possible to have a look at works created in the 1990–2010s by artists from Denmark, France, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Russia. These items, that enriched the museum's collection in the result of its active project and exhibition work during the last decades, demonstrate the variety of methods, approaches and traditions in the "sunstone" processing established in different national schools.

Decorative and physical qualities of the unique gem allow to use it for creation of artworks in such techniques as carving, polishing, pressing, coloring, composing and Florentine mosaics. Nowadays, as in the antiquity, the Baltic gem is used for manufacturing the works of jewellery and decorative-applied arts. And advanced technologies enable artists to create such artworks that have no analogs in the history of amber processing either in appearance, or in technique of execution.

The exhibition "Amber Unites the World" will present both works of authors who have great experience in working with amber, and of those who hadn't even known about its existence until recently. It's not an exaggeration to say that amber unites people of the whole world – artists, masters, experts and admirers of this wonderful material – witness of the living past of our planet.
