Exhibition "Amber Unites the World"

The exhibition "Amber Unites the World" will show the variety of methods, approaches and traditions in amber working formed in different national schools of Europe. Decorative and physical qualities of amber let use it to create artworks using such techniques as carving, polishing, pressing, colouring, combined and Florentine mosaics.
As in the ancient times, so today amber is used to make items of jewellery, decorative and applied arts. During the last several decades a modern approach to this material and appearance of the new technologies allow artists to create artworks that have no analogs in the whole history of amber working. They started to use it in combination with plastic, amber-like resins, glass, various kinds of wood, noble and base metals, precious and semi-precious stones, leather, ceramics.
At the exhibition there are works of authors who are well-experienced in work with amber and those who haven't known of its existence until the recent time. It is not an exaggeration to say that amber unites people of the whole world: artists, masters, experts and admirers of this marvelous material – witness of the living past of our planet.
