Exhibition "Nature of Amber"

On 17 November 2016, an exhibition "Nature of Amber" was opened in the Fersman Mineralogical Museum of Russian Academy of Sciences. There are over hundred samples of the Baltic gem from collection of the Kaliningrad Regional Amber Museum in the exposition.

The exhibition features amber as a natural object. There is variety of natural forms of the sunstone, its colour range, ways of technological treatment, as well as amber with inclusions shown there..

There are fragments of bark and wood, needles, strobiles of an ancient tree that gave us the Baltic gem exhibited separately.

Amber is shown also as a paleobiological object. There are inhabitants of "amber" forest – spiders, insects, myriapods petrified in amber. Guests of the exhibition will also see the new museum's purchases – inclusions of hair of a mammal found in the hardened resin.

The exhibition will work until 12 February 2017.
