All-Russian Contest of Jewellery and Stone Carving Art

The Third All-Russian Contest of Jewellery and Stone Carving Art takes place in the Kaliningrad Regional Amber Museum from 20 to 24 June 2016. The event is dedicated to the 170th anniversary of Carl Faberge (1846 – 1920).

We invite to participate in the contest jewellery artists, large jewellery companies (a work will be accepted for the contest if name of the author is mentioned). Within the biennial, there will be organized exhibition of contest works (from 20 June to 4 September), academic seminar with participation of specialists in the sphere of jewellery and stone-carving art, educational programme for students of the educational institutions of Kaliningrad oblast, jewellery artists and stone carvers. Based on results of the contest, a coloured illustrated catalogue will be published, it will include information about authors and works, as well as the programme and texts of the seminar reports.

One of the  highlights of the contest days will be opening of solo exhibition of the Moscow jeweller Gennadiy Lentsov, jury member of the Third All-Russian Contest of Jewellery and Stone-Carving Art. The artistry of this author is of a great significance in the context of contemporary culture and development of the original genre in jewellery art. His creative work have been lasting for over 35 years. Works by Gennadiy Lentsov were displayed at over hundred professional art exhibitions, 22 of which are international. He won prestigious awards, diplomas at national and international exhibitions and contests. Works of the artists are in the main museum collections of our country: Armoury of the Moscow Kremlin, All-Russia Museum of Decorative, Applied and Folk Art, State Historical, Architectural, Art and Landscape Museum-Reserve "Tsaritsyno", Yekaterinburg Museum of Fine Arts, as well as in private collections.

Biennial of the original jewellery art in Kaliningrad has been conducted since 2012. At the exhibitions of the First and Second contests there were works of jewellers from Kazan, Kostroma, Makhachkala, Moscow, Nizhniy Tagil, Saint Petersburg, Samara, Togliatti, Yaroslavl, Yekaterinburg and Zlatoust. Kaliningrad masters also participated in the contests.

In today's world art, interest to the stone-carving art is growing and its influence on the development of jewellery also increases, so the Organizing Committee decided to supplement the name of the contest with words "and Stone Carving Art".

Works of artists will be considered in four categories: "Artistic Heritage", "Metaphor", "Use of National Ornament", "My Russia". The main contest award is Grand Prix. The contest jury consists of the leading art historians, experts in the sphere of jewellery art of Russia..
