The special programme in Kaliningrad Amber Museum on 13 September dedicated to 160 anniversary of Dona tower the old fortifications where now houses the museum.

The tower was built in 1853 in neo-Gothic style under the guidance of the developer general plan of fortifications of Koenigsberg chief engineer corps Ernst Ludwig von Aster and and were part of the city's defenses. The name tower got in honor Prussian General Field Marshal Friedrich Karl Dona who took part in the war of liberation against Napoleon's invasion.

The building now is the monument of Great Patriotic War because on 10 April 1945 the soviet warriors put on it the Flag of Victory over the garrison fortress-city of Koenigsberg.

Excursions on the sky deck of Dona Tower and visit to the postern (hidden corridor of the tower)
17.00 Lection “ Dona Tower is the fortress above the lake ” dedicated to architectural and aesthetic aspects of fortress. Lecturer is good known Kaliningrad local historian Avenir Petrovich Ovsyanov
18.00 Meeting with Count Hans Hubertus Dona, representative of old German noble family.

 

Count Dona will make a speech about the history of the family, including those of General-Field Marshal Friedrich Dona, whose name tower carrying.

In the end of the evening audience will have a chance to visit postern and sky deck.
