Programme "Power of the Stone" within the Night of Museums

The programme "Power of the Stone" starts at 8 p.m.. by the museum's gates, where guests will be met by actors, at the same time a free photo booth will be opened in the inner yard.

Main action will happen on the first floor. Visitors will see works of the Kaliningrad press photographer of the newspaper "Komsomolskaya Pravda" Viktor Guseinov on legal and illegal amber extraction. Also only on this night, for the first time some showpieces from the museum's collection will be exhibited: amber stone of unusual form "Jabba the Hutt", a rare insects inclusion, fighting knife with an amber bead of the 5th century, signet of the 18th century with the national emblem of the Russian Empire, as well as more modern works.

The Night of Museums 2017 coincides with the opening of a new exhibition at the Amber Museum. It is called "Power of the Earth – Gift of the Sun" and it is dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the Kaliningrad Amber Combine. Excursions will be conducted there every hour and amber working equipment will be shown.

A special point of the programme will be a solo cycle quest. Stage with tasks are museums entering the main route of the project, as well as other sightseeings of the city. The quest can be undertaken by any bike rider, who downloaded a free application izi.travel. Information about the place, where the first task is hidden, appears on the Amber Museum's pages in the social networks on 19 May at 20.00 sharp. After midnight the programme will be concluded with the fire show.
