Kaliningrad Amber Museum opens international art and educational project

During two weeks Italian students and artists together with Kaliningrad students, who served apprenticeship in Italy 2010, will study in Kaliningrad Amber Museum, Kaliningrad Art and Industrial College, Kaliningrad Amber Combine and in artists’ workshops in atmosphere of creativity, exchange of thoughts and ideas.
At the end of the project there will be an exhibition of Kaliningrad and Italian students’ works in the Kaliningrad Amber Museum and Jewellery Workshop-Gallery Posthaus (Naturns, Italy). This exhibition will give an opportunity to demonstrate achievements of young specialists.
The project will be concluded with publication of the catalogue in form of diary, where all the stages of occurring events will be described.
Purposes of the project:
- establishment of professional communication between young artists by means of organization of students’ exchange for educational purposes;
- improving of professional skills, range extension of young artists’ creative thinking;
- development of Kaliningrad as center of jewellery art.

Historical note:
After participation of Konrad Laimer (Naturns, Italy) in the Third International Biennial of Amber Artworks Alatyr 2009 in Kaliningrad Amber Museum a Russian-Italian art and educational co-project was born. The first stage of this project was competition among students of Kaliningrad Art and Industrial College, where a specialization in sphere of jewellery design and artistic amber treatment exists.
Four winners went to Italy in 2010, where they served apprenticeship by Italian artists. During the trip they acquainted with new approaches to jewellery design in leading schools of Venice, Padua and South Tirol. The Italians defrayed all expenses.
After two weeks of study students presented their works in the exhibition in Kaliningrad.This trip extended the boarders of professional thinking of the students.
