Press Office of the Amber Museum
From 22 July the Amber Museum launched a new themed guided tour on the viewing platform of the Dohna Tower – "Code of the City. The History in Symbols". Preparation of the necessary equipment was funded by Vladimir Potanin's grant, which the museum won in 2017.
The tour lasts for 1 hour 20 minutes and includes:
- brief history of the city from 11 to 21 century based on the symbols of historical epochs shown on information boards in the shape of weather vanes pointing at the historical objects in the modern cityscape;
- presentation of Königsberg views (archival photographs) through a binocular using augmented reality technology.
"Traditionally a city tour member faces difficulties in perception of the cityscape with due regard to historical continuation. It is defined by the existing style and time disruptions of Kaliningrad-Königsberg, the city with a complicated destiny. The tour "Code of the City. The History in Symbols" allows to put the city together as one whole from the viewing platform of the Dohna Tower", – mentions the author of the guided tour and manager of the Amber Museum Gennadii Semenov.
Excursion sessions to the viewing platform of the Dohna Tower are held every day* from Monday to Friday at 12.00 (*the programme can be changed).
A group can include up to 7 persons.
Ticket price for the excursion session – 200 RUB for all categories of visitors.
The prior registration to the excursion: 538219.
