Signature style of a jewellery artist is a combination of numerous peculiarities of choice and working of metal. Alongside with setting and cutting precious and semi-precious stones, formation of the general and detailed colour composition of works reflects originality and independence of the master's artistry. Colour of jewellery materials – metals and minerals – is often the main reason for a buyer's choice of one or another jewellery piece.
The following aspects will be discussed:
- general colour theory with chromatology elements;
- particular colour qualities of works from famous jewellery houses and independent artists (Russia, Europe, USA, India, China);
- particular colour qualities of jewellery pieces by historical and national; schools of the past.
The lecture will be conducted by the museum's Deputy Director for Research, art expert, candidate of pedagogical sciences Irina Toropova within the lecture series "Jewellery Encyclopedia".
