"Yantarniy Yuvelirprom" – general partner of the biennial "Alatyr 2015"

JSC “Yantarniy Yuvelirprom" – the subsidiary of the JSC “Kaliningrad Amber Combine” – will be the general partner of the Sixth International Biennial of Amber Artworks that takes place in Kaliningrad from 22 June to 30 August.

The contest organizer is the Kaliningrad Regional Amber Museum supported by the Ministry of Culture of Kaliningrad region. There will be a thematic contest and exhibition “Metaphysics of Light” with five categories, scientific and practical conference “Problems of conservation and restoration of amber”, educational programme for students of the art departments of educational institutions of Kaliningrad region within the frameworks of the biennial. The theme of exhibition is “Metaphysics of Light” was defined according to the UNESCO programme, which proclaimed 2015 as the International Year of Light and Light-based Technologies; and Baltic amber has always been associated with sun light by people of different cultures.

In addition to the traditional categories JSC “Yantarniy Yuvelirprom” has established a special category “New blood” for young designers, who have worked with amber for the first time.

"Search for young and talented artists and their training to work with amber is an important part of the work, which has been conducted by our company for the last 2 years. In our view, it is impossible to restore amber as the Russian national brand without it”, – said the general director of JSC “Yantarniy Yuvelirprom” Vadim Vodopianov.  – “This will help to preserve the traditions of Russian amber school and improve the technology of producing amber works. Creation of the competitive field in amber branch is one of the most important tasks for everybody who deals with “sun stone”. That is exactly why we made a decision to distinguish young upcoming artists and designers, who tried their hand in working with amber for the first time. 

Resuming of results and prizewinner awarding will take place on 26 June at the opening ceremony of the Sixth International Biennial of Amber Artworks “Alatyr 2015”. Jewellers and stone-carvers from Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Russia and Spain participate in the contest. Winners of the contest will be defined by the international jury, which consists of experts and specialists in the spheres of design, jewellery and stone carving art from Denmark, France, Italy, Poland and Russia. 

JSC “Yantarniy Yuvelirprom” is 100% subsidiary of the JSC “Kaliningrad Amber Combine”. The company manufactures serial production and sales amber jewellery items and semi-processed materials; it is one of the biggest in the Russian market. The range of output products is about 800 articles. Production of the company is available almost in every region of the Russian Federation – from Kaliningrad to Vladivostok and Magadan.
