В Музее состоится лекция «Вечная красота. Бриллиант»

Lecture "Eternal beauty. Brilliant" within the series of lectures "Jewellery encyclopedia" takes place in the Kaliningrad Amber Museum on 22 March at 11.00. It will be conducted by the deputy director for research of the museum, art expert, candidate of pedagogical sciences Irina Toropova.

Diamond took the fiirst place among precious stones since its masterfully cut forms known as brilliants brought to light perfection of the amazing qualities of the mineral. It is true for it includes unique hardness, high refraction, strong dispersion and glitter.

Diamonds can be from 100 million to 2,5 billion years old.  They were found first in India about 3000 ago. The stones were valued for their incredible beauty and used for talisman making that protected from malign forces.

Brilliants are the hardest of all the precious stones. It doesn't mean though that they can't be damaged, however it takes a very accurate and strong impact to do it.

Brilliant ring is considered nowadays as a token of love and fidelity, especially when it is given by an admirer or boyfriend. For the first time this beautiful stone was given as a present on the occasion of engagement by Maximillian Archduck of Austria to Mary of Burgundy.

На рубеже XVII и XVIII веков в уже сложившемся облике европейских ювелирных украшений появляется новый элемент – алмаз, огранённый особым способом и названный бриллиантом, в переводе с французского – блестящий, сверкающий.

Слушатели лекции узнают о способах и формах огранки алмазов, о выдающихся мастерах-ювелирах, знаменитых камнях и сокровищах королевских домов мира, о российской и международной системах сертификации бриллиантов. Рассказ будет сопровождать слайд-шоу. По окончании мероприятия все желающие смогут посетить все текущие выставки Музея янтаря.
