An exhibition of Kaliningrad artist "Jewellery fantasy" is opened on 7 November at 17.00 in the Amber Museum. Women jewellery with amber and precious stones made of gold, silver, wood, mammoth's bone, as well as small statuary, icon painting and other objects of religious cult created with the use of Baltic gem will be presented in the exposition.

Pavel Ivanov was born in Kaliningrad in 1955. He became goldsmith in jewellery workshops "Russian gems" by USSR Juvelirprom in 1975–1982. He has been working with amber since 1978, in 1985 he lead experimental creative group in the jewellery workshop of Kaliningrad company "Rembyttechnika". From 1988 to 1991 Pavel taught jewellery art in the Kaliningrad regional scientific and methodical center of folk art, from 1998 to 2001 - worked for the Kaliningrad eparchy.

Pavel made the central icon for the Kaliningrad Small Temple of Christ the Savior and items of religious cult for the clergy of the Russian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia among them, also for that time metropolite and now Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill. The artist is sure that religion is base for development of all kinds of art  and gives unlimited possibilities for creation of unique artworks. “Amber is a divine stone and talent is given to a person for service”, – the artist thinks. Christianity is not just religion but inspiration for him. He makes items for cult and domestic purposes by combining amber, nacre and metal.

Pavel Ivanov is a dedicated admirer of classics. He believes that modern creativity is just an echo of art of past epochs. The artist is going to recreate artworks from the famous book of Alfred Rohde. Bernstein ein deutscher Werkstoff. Seine künstlerische Verarbeitung vom Mittelalter bis zum 18. Jahrhundert. 1937 (Alfred Rohde. Amber - the German material. Its art treatment from Middle Ages till the 18th century. 1937). The artist plans also to create a series of works dedicated to the outstanding representant of Art Deco Romain de Tirtoff (1892-1990), known by the pseudonym Erté.

Since 1979 Pavel Ivanov has been participating in regional, All-Russian and international exhibitions. Since 2001 he is a member of the Creative Union of Artists of Russia.

The exhibition is open till 21 December 2014.
