"Light of the Genius"

On 26 August 2015 at 18.30, a meet-the-artist-event within the contest exhibition "Metaphysics of Light" of the Sixth International Biennial of Amber Artworks "Alatyr 2015" takes place in the Kaliningrad Regional Amber Museum.

Excursion through the exhibition "Metaphysics of Light".

19.00 – 19.20

Lecture. Peculiarities of composition of the theme "The Lord's Supper" in paintings of masters of the 2–15th centuries. Fresco painting by Leonardo da Vinci "The Lord's Supper" and this work's interpretation in creativity of artists from the 16th–21st centuries. Lecturer – deputy director for research of the Amber Museum, art expert, candidate of pedagogical sciences Irina Toropova.

19.20 – 19.40

Meet-the-artist-event with Kaliningrad jeweller Alexander Korolyov – participant of the International Biennial "Alatyr 2015", author of the contest work "Each has his own Leonardo".

Alexander Korolyov was born in 1951 in the town of Baltiysk of the Kaliningrad oblast. He finished Kronstadt College of Midshipmen, until 1996 he served in the Russian Navy. Aleksander started working with amber as an occupation in 1987. He cooperates with different amber companies, during the last years – with the company "Souvenirs of the Baltic". He is fond of photography. Lives in Kaliningrad. He is a constant participant of regional, all-Russian and international contests of applied art.

The artist's specialization is making interior objects: bowls, cutlery, jewellery-boxes, Easter Eggs, and souvenirs. For such kind of work, a master should both have skills in amber carving, and master the technique of metal working.

Easter Eggs and other works of the author were demonstrated at the gallery in San Fransisco (USA), at the exhibitions in Cannes and Paris (France), jewellery show "Amber Trip" in Vilnius (Lithuania), are in private collections.

Alexander Korolyov has been decorated with prestigious honourary awards of the Memorial Carl Faberge Foundation in special recognition in development of Russian jewellery art, creation of amber collections, realization of creative principles and traditions of the Faberge Company:
Small Badge of the Mikhail Perkhin Order (1860–1903), leader of the main Faberge Company workshop;
Small Badge of the Order "Carl Faberge – Court Jeweller";
Small Badge of the Franz Bierbaum Order (1872–1947), chief master and artist of the Faberge Company.
