Author of the book – geologist and outstanding amber researcher, Barbara Kosmowska-Ceranowicz, has been working at the Museum of the Earth of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Warsaw since 1956.

The Monograph tells about the origin of amber, its unique qualities, largest deposits of fossil resins on the planet, history of existence of the sunstone and its role in the Poland national tradition and the world culture, main stages of its working since the Neolith until the present days.

The book is translated from Polish and edited by Zoya Kostyashova, leading research associate of the Amber Museum, member of the World Amber Council (Gdansk, Poland), owner of the title "Amber Personality 2016" established by the International Amber Association (Gdansk, Poland).

Presentation of the book takes place at the Amber Museum's exhibition hall on 3 November at 16.00.

Until 2004 there had been almost no page dedicated to the artistic amber working in the history of Russian culture. The publishing work of the Amber Museum eliminated this informational vacuum. Supported by the Government of Kaliningrad oblast, also by partners and philanthropists of the museum publishing of the exhibitions catalogues, books about Kaliningrad masters, monographs on scientific researches, conferences materials began. Part of every edition is necessarily sent to all libraries of Kaliningrad oblast, as well as to the Russian Central Institute of Bibliography.
