"Museum in the Magic Book"

On 21 June members of the museum's team presented their virtual collection within the social project "Museum in the Magic Book". 20 children gathered to have a look at "The Magic Book", each of them could flip through it and see the 3D images of the museum showpieces. The museum specialists also conducted an educational and playing session "Get acquainted with our museum", which included team work on assembling a puzzle and a workshop in creation an amber amulet. As a result, every child was able to make an own  present.

The project "Museum in the Magic Book" was created using the grant money of the President of Russian Federation, which the Amber Museum won as laureate of the contest aimed to support creative projects of the national significance in the sphere of culture and arts.

The virtual collection of "The Magic Book" includes photos of showpieces from the museum collection – amber samples, unique objects of the 17–21 centuries and special codes for their tree-dimensional displaying. Such interactive exhibition allows to have a detailed look in 3D showpieces of the museum collection, that are usually behind the show cases glasses or kept in the vault.

"The Magic Book" arouses interest both by children and adults. Such presentation form is especially important for those people, who is not able to visit museum due to the health condition.

Within the period from 2014 to 2017 the virtual collection was presented to the children with disabilities – participants of the project "Flowers of Life" realized by the charitable foundation "The Coast of Hope", patients of the Children Regional Hospital,  children from the rehabilitation center for children with disabilities "Childhood", from the boarding school for mentally retarded children "Little Land", Regional Rehabilitation Center for physically Impaired People "New Horizons" and ones of the children psycho-neurological health retreat "Teremok".

The rehabilitation center "Pearl" is a special care institution, which assists help to children with nervous system disorder, ICP, mental disorders, congenital disorders. Children from Sovetsk, Kaliningrad, as well as Slevsk, Neman, Krasnoznamensk, Gurievsk, Ozersk, Nesterov, Gvardeisk, Bagrationovsk, Chernyakhovsk districts are under care of the center.
