We invite you to the lecture "Surrealism in jewellery art. Salvador Dali" on 15 January 2015 at 18.30.

The lecture "Surrealism in jewellery art. Salvador Dali" within the lecture series "Jewellery Encyclopedia" takes place in the Kaliningrad Regional Amber Museum on 15 January at 18.30. It will be conducted by the museum's deputy director for research, art expert, candidate of pedagogical sciences Irina Toropova.
Among the variety of art directions surrealism is truly of a special importance. Its admirers are attracted with counterintuitive combinations of elements of form and content in the works' composition, irrationality, symbolism, ethics and aesthetics of freedom. The surrealistic "spirit" found its way to the jewellery after literature, photography, theater, painting art had glorified it as one of the most scandalous, controversial, revolutionary phenomena in the world art.
At the lecture illustrations of works made by eminent jewellery designers of surrealism will be presented: by Salvador Dali, who made 39 drawings, according to which the Jewellery House "Ertman & Alemany" produced 37 unique works; Fulco di Verdura, who created sketches, and New York jeweller Paul Flato, who realized his fantasies in presious materials.
All works by these eminent authors are made of unique and extremely expensive materials: diamonds, rubies, emeralds, aquamarines, sapphires, pearls, platinum, gold and others. Artworks made according to the sketches of Salvador Dali are equipped with complex fine work.
