The lecture "Treasures of the Great Moguls" within the lecture series "Jewellery Encyclopedia" takes place in the Kaliningrad Regional Amber Museum on 17 December at 18.30. It will be conducted by the museum's deputy director for research, art expert, candidate of pedagogical sciences Irina Toropova.
The Great Moguls is a padishah dynasty of the Mogul Empire (16–19 centuries) founded by the emir Babur. The empire existed on the territory of today's India, Pakistan and south-eastern Pakistan. Name of the dynasty appeared under the English colonizers. The word "mogul" Indian population used to call Moslems of the Northern India and Central Asia.
Jewellery traditions of India are known in the whole world. The jewellery is distinguished with the execution luxury using precious and semi-precious stones, abundant of gold, delicate, exquisite style.
Pictures of jewellery art of the Great Moguls will be demonstrated at the lecture. The audience will find out about the unique techniques of jewellery making and design peculiarities of the artworks of the most famous centers of Indian art.
