Results of the First Regional Biennial of Photography to the memory of Mia Brachert​ have been summed up in the Kaliningrad Regional Amber Museum. The Biennial is aimed to preserve the historical and cultural heritage of the region. Mia Brachert left a mark in the history of the Kaliningrad region as a photographer, in whose professional biography process of the creative reproduction of amber artworks had the key place.

Eight photographers took part in the contest presenting 22 works. They made photos – colour and black-and-white – of the one artwork "Mask" created in 2004 by the Kaliningrad artist Igor Brasyunas.

Jury under the chairmanship of the head of Kaliningrad Photo Artists' Union Yuriy awarded with the laureate title in the category "Colour realistic photo" Andrey Schulz, in the category "Creative interpretation of the object's image" – Maxim Obolenskiy. Special diploma of the Jury member, director of the House-museum of Hermann Brachert Vladimir Chernyaev was given to Johann Van Niekerk.

The laureates received their diplomas at the opening ceremony of the exhibition of contest works, which will work until 22 February.

Participants of the contest

Irina Borsuchenko
Born in 1958. Freelance photographer. Works made by the author were in the shortlist of the photo contest "Best of Russia 2014", were presented at solo exhibitions in the Museum of the World Ocean, in the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Kaliningrad, in the Kaliningrad Regional Museum of History and Arts, in the Puppet Theater. Irina cooperates with mass media, her works can be seen in magazines, newspapers and on the television.

Oxana Galakhova
Born in 1993. Engaged in photography for 7 years, freelance photographer, her work won in the category "Angle" of the contest dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the company "Avtotor". The author took part in various student contests.

Efim Golovatskiy
Born in 1989. Engaged in photography for about 3 years, it's his hobby, works independently. Participation in the regional biennial is his first experience.

Tatiana Ershova
Born in 1995. Engaged in photography for​ a year, it's her hobby. Participation in the regional biennial is her first experience​.

Irina Zamanskaya
Born in 1981. Fond of photography for​ about a year, works with Johann Van Niekerk, she is his assistant, is eager to make her interest in photography to profession.

Johann Van Niekerk
Born in 1979. Worked in South Africa, participated and won in the South African photo contests, engaged mainly in portrait photography; he is making a photo contest in the Lyceum №​49  in English now.

Maxim Obolensky
Born in 1980. Engaged in photography for​ ​20 year. It's his hobby, participated in various All-Russian contests. Practices portrait, object, advertising photography.

Andrej Schulz
Born in 1964. Fond of photography for 2 years, it's his hobby. Participation in the regional biennial is his first experience​.
