Results of the photography contest

Winners of the Second Regional Contest of Photography dedicated to the memory of Mia Brachert have been defined. 22 works were chosen, which guests of the museum will be able to see at the exhibition from 3 to 12 March.

Anastasia Shakhverdieva was awarded with the laureate title in the category "Artistic Image" of the Professional group. Works created by Andrey Shulz were distinguished in the Amateur group in two categories – "Black-and-white Photograph" and "Colour Photograph".

The contest jury consisted of:

  1. Igor Sosedko, photographer of the Kaliningrad Regional Amber Museum, stock photographer.
  2. Irina Toropova, Deputy Director for Research of the Kaliningrad Regional Amber Museum, art expert.
  3. Natalia Shevchuk, Director of the Hermann Brachert Memorial House Museum.
  4. Olga Yuritsina, board chairperson of the Kaliningrad Regional Public Organization of Photo Artists.

Photo contest, conducted by the Amber Museum for the second time, is dedicated to the memory of Mia Brachert, wife of the famous sculptor Hermann Brachert. She is known as creator of illustrations for the famous book of Alfred Rohde "Amber. German Material" (Berlin, 1937). The photo artist worked on photo shooting amber art pieces of the 15–18th centuries from the Königsberg collection.

To participate in the contest, contemporary artists were offered twin candle sticks from the museum's collection to, scientific reconstruction of works created in Königsberg in the second half of the 16th century. The originals were part of the Königsberg King Castle collection until 1937. The reconstruction was made based on the photograph taken by Mia Brachert in 1999 at the "Tsarskoye Selo Amber Workshop".
