The series of one-showpiece exhibitions is an other way to present the extensive collection of the Kaliningrad Regional Amber Museum, which includes around 16 000 depositary items. This way of demonstrating an art piece allows specialists, its author and guests to look at it out of the context of a themed exhibition.

Brooch "Cube – architecture in modern times". 2017
Amber, coal, metal
The brooch was exhibited at the Seventh International Biennial of Amber Artworks "Alatyr 2017" and became laureate in the category "Innovation".
The brooch is a parallelepiped with asymmetrical facets. Each of them is made of chaotically placed rectangular elements from black coal and polished amber of various shades and grades of transparency. Backside of the brooch is decorated with metal plate with a metal pin consisting of a wide pin clasp and two needles on it.
Susanne Elstner was born in Munich, Germany in 1962. In 1981–1995, she actively studied goldsmithing in different schools and workshops of Germany. Works by the artist have been exhibited at numerous international exhibitions of decorative and applied art, where she was awarded diplomas and nominations.
Since 2012, the artist has been working with charcoal, and since 2014 – with amber. Susanne produces coal on her own, thanks to that fact she manages to keep the typical character of the wood – annual rings of larch are distinctive and show interesting structures. It makes every adornment special and unique.
